HV SynthDesign Total Trumpet VSTi v1 0 ASSiGN
Harm Visser at HV Synth Design has answered the call for brass with the release of Total Trumpet, a new virtual trumpet instrument (Windows; $79).
Total Trumpet is all about realistic trumpet sounds and tweakable parameters.
According to the maker, you can tweak the virtual instrument's sounds in such a way to make them come close to the playing
styles of luminaries like Miles Davis and others.
To hear audio examples, check out the Total Trumpet product page on HV Synth Design's Web site.
The trumpets on the demos sound pretty realistic for software instruments, although the attacks have too much "HU" instead of "TU" in my opinion.
Luckily, Total Trumpet has adjustable parameters for everything, including attack, and that can be changed easily.
Check out Total Trumpet's main features and controls:
* Breath Pressure: via MIDI Learn, you can choose the CC you prefer and also set a threshold for more or less breath pressure
* Attack: for "blowing" explosive attacks
* Player Lips: the slight trill sound of the player's lips, which are sometimes audible
* Instability: for a realistic playing of long notes
* Attack noise: this also causes some instability when you play long notes
* Flutter Tongue: simulates the rapid up and down movement of the tongue, via MIDI Learn
* Portamento: you can choose between MIDI Learn and Velocity
* Timbre: you can select from two timbres or the Harmon mute
* Note-to-note transition: the audible legato that results from imperfect playing, such as pressing a piston when another one is not released in time
* Damping: with this knob you can alter the bore structure, and in turn alter the timbre, via MIDI Learn
* Four-stage EQ
* Harmonics: this knob adds extra harmonics for a richer sound
* Tuning
* Pitch and amplitude vibrato: via Aftertouch or MIDI Learn
* Volume
* Overblowing: via the Pitch Wheel
* Muting (Mute1 and Mute2) and MIDI Learn for creating "moving" mutes
* Stem: for making the famous wah-wah effect on the Harmon mute
* Selectable voices
* Stereo spread: controllable via a knob
